Advocacy Through Art – May 22, 2023 @ 6:30pm at the Matheson History Museum

“Advocacy Through Art” brings together artists, advocates, and academics in a panel conversation about art and its potential to inspire queer community. The Matheson History Museum will host Carrie Cotten (TranQuility Officer), Dr. Jillian Hernandez (Professor, UF Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies), and Kim Sims (Gainesville artist, The Gender Spectrum Project) who will each share their experience as an advocate, academic, and artist to explore the role art centered advocacy can play in imagining brighter futures for trans and gender non-conforming people by forging queer community and inspiring self-love.
